Yesterday I made a Boston Cream Pie and its so yummy!!

1 round yellow cake layer (8 or 9 inch)
1 cup cold milk
1 pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
1-1/2 cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping
1 square BAKER'S Unsweetened Chocolate
1 Tbsp. butter
3/4 cup powdered sugar
2 Tbsp. cold milk

(if you don't have bakers chocolate, you can make it with 3 TBS cocoa pwd and 1 TBS oil)

CUT cake into 2 layers with serrated knife. Beat 1 cup milk and pudding mix with whisk 2 min. Stir in COOL WHIP. Let stand 5 min.

STACK cake layers on serving plate, spreading pudding mixture between layers.

MICROWAVE chocolate and butter on HIGH 1 min. Stir until chocolate is melted. Add sugar and 2 Tbsp. milk; mix well. Spread over cake. Refrigerate 1 hour. Refrigerate leftovers.

*Tip.. Instead of cutting the cake layer in half, just make the layers thinner when you pour the batter in the pans. Also if you bake the extra cake batter you can freeze it for later.*

Another day of thrift shopping

My best friend, "T" joined us this morning for our weekly playgroup. After we left the park we decided to stop by a thrift store that donates their proceeds to the local Women's shelter. I found a really nice sweater for either me or my mama and a long sleeve tee-shirt for CJ. Then we grabbed lunch and since we had more time to kill before T's dr appt we decided to go to 2 consignment shops and the Salvation Army. I didn't find much at the consignment shops, although I did get a little toy for CJ for $2. At the Salvation Army I found a tee-shirt and 2 pairs of jeans for CJ that were half off!

Total for todays thrift shopping trip: $11.18

Until next time.....

Yesterday's shopping finds

CJ is enjoying a LeapPad movie so I thought I'd share some deals I just got. Yesterday my best friend (a soon to be first time mommy) and I hit 3 thrift stores (2 different Salvation Armys and a Goodwill), the mall and Aldi yesterday. Heres what I got:

First from the thrift stores:
(minus 2 cloth books for the baby that I already sent home with my BF)

brand new 3pk of Purell $0.99
John Teere tote $1.99
2 cloth baby books $1.98 (not shown)
Stephen King book $0.25
JRR Tolken book $0.25
7 shirts for CJ $10.43 ($1.49 each)

Then on to the mall where we went into Sears (if you have one, GO. alot of their clearance is take an addition 50% off) We also went to the Motherhood store in the mall but of course I didn't get anything from there, BF however did find some good deals on maternity items she needed.

Yes theres 2 shirts on the left that are identical. One is a 4T, alittle too big for now but it will fit soon enough so I went ahead and got it.

5 shirts $11.16

And no pics from Aldi, but I got:
Insulated Bag $0.99 (left mine at home and needed to keep the milk cold)
2 gallons of milk $1.99 each (its $3.68 a gallon for Walmart brand!!)
5lbs sugar $1.89 ($2.43 last time I bought it at walmart and we go through ALOT of sugar)
tortilla chips $0.99
salsa $1.49
Pizza Snacks $2.09
Cheese and cracker snack packs $1.09

Lots of junk food, but I didn't have a grocery list, we just stopped in for milk, so I picked up some things for CJ.

I'm off to do laundry.

Until Next time......

Works for me Wednesday

Its time for WFMW at Rocks In My Dryer again.

My tip today is about baby wipe containers. If you're a parent you have a ton of empty baby wipe containers laying around taking up space or you toss out enough to build the Great Wall. Not anymore! They make great storage containers for all kinds of different things. I have one with all the wooden puzzles in it, now more going on treasure hunts for puzzle pieces when your toddler wants to play. I use one for crayons. One for small misc toys, my toddler has a blast sticking the small toys through the hole in the top of the container as well. I also keep a couple under our bathroom counter for toiletry samples, extra toothbrushes, anything small that will fit.

If you think hard enough I'm sure you can come up with many uses for yours as well.

Fall

Its finally fall. For once, in what seems like my entire life we're actually having fall weather in NC. The weather is simply wonderful, I'm able to keep my windows open pretty much all day, every day. And our once a week trip to the park, the weather is just right for it.

While I'm on the topic of fall I thought I'd share my fall decor.

The cost of my decor (because we all know I love to be thrifty):
A bag of small pumpkins $3
Bag of Brachs candy pumpkins $2
Large bag of pumpkin scented potpourri $4 (split into 3 containers and have leftovers)
2 pumpkin tealight holders $2
4 bunches of fall flowers $4
Candy jar Gift from my Mama
